About the PAT Test

The test comprises of a thorough visual inspection of the equipment and the surrounding environment, plus a series of full power test on our equipment.

Note:The item being tested will need to be turned off. All tests will be carried out in accordance with The Institute of Electrical engineers code of practice

PAT Testing Labels

All items tested will be labelled and identified on completion, with a pass or fail. The labels will also have test date info plus the scheduled re-test date, giving all, a quick
visual check to ensure compliance.

Information will also be taken on the description / equipments location / manufacturers / model / notes / test date / next due date

Current regulations that apply to PAT testing:

  • 1974 Health and Safety At Work Act ( HSWA) – Duty of care for both employees and employers.
  • 1989 Electricity At Work Regulations – as may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent , so far as is reasonable practical, such dangers
  • 1992 The Workplace ( Health/ safety/ Welfare) Regulations
  • 1998 The Provision and Use of Work Equipment regulations – regulation 4 (1) every employer shall ensure that work equipment is so constructed or adapted as to be suitable for the purpose for which it is used or provided
  • 1999 The Management of Health and safety at Work Regulations – Every employer
    shall make suitable and sufficient assessments
